Film producer, Paul Adjei who has worked with actress Kyeiwaa on numerous has debunked rumours making the rounds that the latter has passed on over the weekend at the Okomfo Anokye Teaching Hospital after battling an unknown ailment.
According to Paul Gee, he started receiving call from industry players on Saturday morning to find out if it was true that Kyeiwaa had died.
According to him, he was confused and worried about the number of calls that kept coming in.
“I was surprised to receive more than 15 calls in about 10 minutes over the death of Kyeiwaa. I had to quickly contact her in the United States of America where she is currently on holidays” he said.
According to Paul Gee, Kyeiwaa told him she had also received calls from friends and family members in Ghana about her death.
Paul Gee who said Kyeiwaa was upset with the rumours told him she did not understand why anyone would start a rumour like that.
“ Why would anyone wish death for me? I have not been sick and I am just enjoying a short holiday in the U.S so where did this rumour start from? I think it’s about time Ghanaians stopped pronouncing death on celebrities” Paul Gee said Kyeiwaa told him over the phone.
Asked why people might think Kyeiwaa who has featured in over 80 movies is dead, Paul Gee who has worked on a number of movies with Kyeiwaa said he believes Kyeiwaa’s absence from the movie scene is making people think she is dead.
Again Paul Gee said he thinks it’s about a new movie Metanfo Afere where Kyeiwaa died in a motor accident.
“I believe these two reasons might have fueled the rumours to make some Ghanaians think Kyeiwaa is dead but the versatile actress is alive and strong” he added.
Kyeiwaa, known in real life as Rose Adjei is popular for movies such as Kyeiwaa Bayie, Kyeiwaa In School, Kyeiwaa, Mama Africa, Akwadaa Kyeiwaa, Sure Banker, Teacher Kofi Abaa and Ohia Asem.
