Western Region Director of Education, Enyonam Amafuga has expressed worry at how lesbianism has gained roots in Girls-only Senior High Schools in the country
According to her, the spate of the abominable act in girls’ schools demands both government and divine intervention to stamp it out.
The practice popularly known as ‘supi’ is deeply rooted in second cycle schools, and has been the headache of school authorities for several years, but Mrs. Amafuga believes school heads usually do not admit to it.
Mrs. Amafuga has challenged her colleague school heads, parents, and other relevant stakeholders to help her fight the canker.
She indicated that the situation has affected the academic performance of some of the students, especially those who refuse to give in to the act since they are always harrassed.
She has therefore called for urgent steps to reverse it.
Mrs. Amafuga disclosed this during the 25th Anniversary of the Sefwi Juaboso Senior High School.
