With the spate of unemployment one person who has been vocal about the subject is the Assin Central Member of Parliament Honourable Kennedy Agyapong, as earlier reports by mynewsgh.com show.
The NPP lawmaker has in a surprising move revealed that he does not only complain about jobs for his people on radio and TV but takes action as well.
The Assin Central MP has revealed that in the year 2017, he secured through his own influence, over a thousand job slots across various sectors of the economy including protocol recruitments into the Police, Immigration etc.
To back up his claims, the outspoken MP provided numbers.
“At Cocobod, I got 84 jobs. Forestry Commission I got 400 jobs, yes 400… Community policing I got the boys 30 slots. At Youth Employment I got 100, you think we are joking”, he told Osei Bonsu in an interview on Asempa FM.
He said even though it was difficult to get a job at the Airport Company Limited, he managed to secure 6 jobs there, in addition to 10 jobs he got for people at various Banks.
He said he shared the jobs according to the communities in his constituency and that his priority was only NPP members.
He also revealed he had warned his constituency executives not to disguise any NDC Member as NPP to deceive him to get a job for the fellow because according to him “NDC members only helped their members.. I told them to make sure they are NPP” he confessed despite adding later on that he could change his mind as NDC members are also his constituents.
Asked by host Osei Bonsu whether the various appointees heading the companies he was mentioning caved in to his demands to give him job slots out of fear of him insulting them on radio and TV over their refusal, he said that cannot be the case.
