Simon Peacemaker, a Nigerian movie director currently based in Ghana to shoot a movie, has indicated that the Ghanaian film industry has a future but lacks support from the government and that is why it is not improving.
The director and actor who has been in Ghana for a week explained on e.TV Ghana’s ‘The Late Nite Celebrity Show’ that there is lack of support in the Ghana Movie Industry and that has resulted in poor content development for most of the movies shot in Ghana.
He added that, the Nigeria government has established a bank which supplements the various industries with funds, provided the production is meaningful and would yield positive change.
According to Peacemaker, the movie industry must look like the corporate world where you go to work in the morning at 8 am and close at 5 pm in the evening to ensure that the work can be taken seriously.
“This is what I feed my family with so I take it seriously,” he added.
He disclosed that “Due to the fact that the actors are not getting what they feel they deserve, they do not take the work seriously and that is the reason why there are bad movies in the Ghanaian Movie Industry.”
