Ghanaian rapper, Armstrong Affum, popularly known in the entertainment circles as Dadie Opanka, has disputed the notion that he is a lazy artist.
The artiste on the special ‘Eid Mubarak’ edition of e. TV Ghana’s ‘The Late Nite Celebrity show’ explained that Ghanaians do not understand the concept of mixed tapes and freestyles.
The ‘Wedding Car’ hitmaker explained that “mixed tape is an album made up of mixed songs of your original and freestyle tracks. A cover and freestyle are just raps that are done in a studio during an interview but it becomes a track when that same freestyle is recorded at the studio.”
He added that “Outside Ghana if you are a rapper or musician and you don’t do mixed tapes, you are seen as lazy but in Ghana it is the opposite. This is because anyone who can work on someone else beat and do theirs, in addition, is hardworking and not lazy like what most Ghanaians think.”
Opanka became popularly through a freestyle he did off Bradez’ song ‘ Simple’ which went viral. He later followed up with his official single ‘Taste’ which also became an instant hit.
