Hiplife musician Nana Kwaku Okyere Duah, who was popularly known as Tic Tac but now preferred to be called Tic has said that he is now into food business.
Tic started performing in 1997 with a group called ‘Naatty strangers’. He reached a wider audience when he was featured on Azigiza’s song ‘Woye Bia’, which was a hit in Ghana. Collaborations with Slim Busterr and Daasebre Gyamena of blessed memory followed. In 1999 Tic released his debut solo album, ‘Philomina’, which was also a big hit.
Tic for some time has not been active on the music scenes.
In an interview on eTV Ghana’s Late Nite Celebrity show, Tic revealed that he has ventured into the food business, shifting from the nightclub business.
“I’ve shifted from the nightclub business, I’m now into food business. I sell food, I sell pizza, I sell chicken hot wings, I sell bongo pork and bongo goat.
According to Tic, he ventured into this business during his break from music.
“You can’t do this for 25 years and still be in people’s faces, a lot can happen to get you down. When that happens, I take music off and do something else to get money into my pocket.”
The ‘kangaroo’ hitmaker also stated that venturing into the food business in particular and not any other business was a decision informed by the fact that entertainment and food is something that goes hand in hand. He further disclosed that his family’s love for food and his fiancée’s love for cooking also played a role in his food business decision.
“I think entertainment and food is something that is always merging if you go to someplace to eat, there’s always music or music videos playing. I think people always want to have entertainment with food.”
“My family loves food even though I don’t like food.”
“My fiancée really likes to cook, she likes to cook and she also likes food, but she likes to cook for a lot of people.”
Tic is out with a new single titled “Pene Mame” which features Kidi.
