Born Livingstone Etse Satekla, dancehall musician, Stonebwoy has explained the importance of Universal Music Group being contracted to distribute, market and promote his music to the world and why the press in Ghana could not be addressed earlier.
Speaking to Happy FM in a telephone interview, he spoke about how getting deals such as his deal with Universal Music Group has benefitted other artiste across the continent.
“Most African artistes, especially our Nigerian people, we all see how they prosper and they are able to break boundaries and it seems like they are the only ones buying it. These are the kind of things they do and it has gotten them to where we all hope to get,” he said.
“With the Universal deal, we have joined forces with the Universal group to continue with the work in the sense that we have a licensing agreement with them to distribute, promote and market.
“Let’s assume Zylofon and I have prepared banku and given it to Universal to go and sell because Universal has the market, we can’t go to the places Universal can go get sales so we have to contract different people to continue with the job and it’s all for the good and progress,” he said.
Stonebwoy also attributed time as the cause of not addressing the Ghanaian press to touch on issues concerning his deal with the Universal Music Group,
“For lack of time and other things we couldn’t address issues with the press properly before the universal team arrived.”
On Tuesday July 17, 2018, the Afro – Pop Dancehall artiste Stonebwoy sealed a new deal with world’s largest music company, Universal Music Group.
The deal happened at the launch of Universal Music Group’s new Pan-African division office in Nigeria.
