The Nigerian based Ghanaian actress Ella Mensah has stated that nobody has ever asked her for sex in order for her to secure a role in a movie.
She made this statement on ‘The Late Nite Celebrity Show’ on e.TV Ghana hosted by Foster Romanus while expressing her discomfort about speaking on the said topic.
Ella said, “I feel very uncomfortable when I hear that. This is everywhere, it is not only in our industry.”
She gave an example of a friend of hers who found herself in the same situation sometime back.
“I know a girl, I won’t mention her name because I went to the same university with her. She wanted to work in the bank. If I tell you how she got the same harassment from her branch manager and three other men who wanted to sleep with her, you will be amazed.”
Ella placed the ball in front of ladies who find themselves in this kind of situation to make the right decision since they will have themselves to blame should they give in to such demands.
“Men will always be men and women will always be women. We have the good men and bad men. So if you are a pretty girl and you show up for audition, the man is attracted to you and wants to shoot his shot. It is up to you to allow him or not as long as he doesn’t rape you. If you allow it, it is your fault.”
“Most of them will look at your personality before they say that. They can’t look at me and say that to me. Like are you okay!! They have the people they go to,” she said.
“Personally nobody has tried that with me, they cannot try it,” she added
