It has emerged that President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, will no longer move in a long presidential convoy during his working trips around the country.
Information reaching etvghana.com indicates that all Ministers, Deputy Ministers, Members of Parliament (MP’s) and New Patriotic Party (NPP) officials wishing to accompany the president on his five-day working tour in the Ashanti Region would be bused in an Intercity STC Coach, (State Transport Corporation).
This directive comes on the back of several complaints from Ghanaians, describing the presidential convoy as ‘opulent display of power’ at expense of the tax payer’s money.
Last month section of Ghanaians asserted that, instead of President Nana Addo to stick to his promise of “Protecting the public purse,” he rather displays the highest echelons of power with his presidential convoy whenever he [Nana Addo] is on a regional tour.
He will undertake a number of activities including a visit to the Manhyia Palace to pay a courtesy call on Asantehene Otumfuo Osei Tutu II.
The five-day tour comes on the heels of the president’s recent tour of the three regions up north, having earlier visited the Brong Ahafo, Volta and Western regions.
