Hammer who about a week ago made his intentions of selling 1 million copies of the upcoming Shatta Wale ‘Reign’ album known on national television has reaffirmed his position and why he believes that is possible. He did this while comparing the dancehall artist to Nigeria’s legendary musician Fela Kuti.
On e.TV Ghana’s entertainment talk show, The Late Nite Celebrity Show, he was eager to talk about Shatta Wale and even asked the host to cease the call-ins to avoid any interruptions during his assertions about the self-acclaimed dancehall king.
He started off by saying “Now let’s talk about Shatta, I don’t think people know who Shatta is. Shatta is a disrupter, he disrupted the game. He represents the guy who refuses to be bullied. He is the last hope for people who have been stepped on and finally want to redeem themselves.”
“People think it’s all about the music but it’s not, he is a revolutionary. What he did was more than music, he represents strength, he represents the underdog who has come on top, he is a success story.
In answering those who ask him why Shatta and not any of his other boys, he said, “Look, what he did, Fela is the person I can compare him to, Lumba couldn’t do it, Kojo Antwi couldn’t do it.”
Who has gone abroad and returned to have over 500 people waiting for him at the airport, did you see what happened at the airport when he got to the north?”
“You see, he summons the spirit of the people, he represents hope and I think that is what many people are failing to realize. If anyone can sell 1 million copies on the streets of Ghana, it is Shatta and we have the machine for that. A1, we have the machine for that,” he added.
Watch The Late Nite Celebrity Show every Monday, Wednesday, Friday at 9: pm on eTV Ghana.
