President of the Ghana Academy of Muslim Professionals (GAMP), Hajj Yakbu Anderson, has commanded Government for introducing the Free SHS Policy.
He was speaking at the closing ceremony of the annual tuition-free vacation classes that the Academy organizes yearly for Senior High School (SHS) students during their long vacation break.
He said ‘’First, we would like to commend the president, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo and the NPP Government for being bold to introduce free SHS in Ghana.’’
He also called on the Ministry of Education (MOE) and the Ghana Education Service (GES) to do broad consultation with key stakeholders like Teacher Unions, the various and education units among others, to collaborate with them in order to come up with effective strategy and modalities for successful implementation of the double track system.
The annual Dr. Ahmed Issaka Abdulai tuition-free Vacation school was initiated in August 1995 with the aim of giving academic support to Senior High School students especially those from deprived communities to help them pass their final examinations.
The Ghana Academy of Muslim Professionals was formed in November 1992 and officially inaugurated on 5th February 1994. The Academy has for the past 24 years initiated other programs to help the course of Islam and Muslims around the country.
