The Ghanaian musician D-Flex has let out on the fact that highlife music in Ghana now is not as it used to be years back.
Reacting to the question he was asked by Foster Romanus on ‘The Late Nite Celebrity Show’, he said, “when I was with the old musicians like Ofori Amponsah the highlife style was quite disparate and they used to sell records but in recent times, the show pays more. Music wise, it now sounds like Afro-pop and highlife with a guitar flare with the young artistes like Kwame Eugene, Kidi, King Promise and the others”.
He added that the only negative issue pertaining to his kind of songs was the language he normally used, “Hausa” which many people could not understand but loved the melody, style, and the voice anyway.
D-Flex is an artist who has on two occasions been nominated for highlife song and highlife artiste respectively, in 2013.
